AI visibility tool
What an AI visibility tool has to get right
Most of the difference between these tools is not the dashboard. It is whether the numbers underneath survive being questioned.

Seven things worth checking before you buy any of them — including ours
- Does it average across engines? If one number covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity together, it is hiding the case where you are visible on one and invisible on another. Ask to see per-engine output.
- What happens when a provider call fails? A failed request must be excluded from the denominator. If failures quietly count as "brand absent", a bad API day looks like a ranking collapse.
- Is "mentioned" separated from "recommended"? Being listed among nine options is not being recommended. Tools that merge them report a much prettier number than reality.
- Are raw answers retained? If the tool stores only scores, then improving a detection rule means paying to re-measure, and last quarter can never be re-examined.
- Is the question set frozen and versioned? Trends across a changing question list are not trends.
- Is the surface stated honestly? An API measurement is an API measurement. A tool claiming to reproduce a logged-in consumer session at scale should be asked exactly how.
- Is the cost of a check visible? Every measurement costs the vendor real money. If usage limits are vague, they will tighten later.

We would rather lose a deal over that table than win one and have you find out in week two.
What we actually measure
Every result comes from the official OpenAI, Google Gemini
and Perplexity APIs with web search or grounding enabled. In our data those
surfaces are recorded as openai_api_web_search,
gemini_api_google_search and perplexity_api_sonar, and reports name
them explicitly.
That is not the same thing as a logged-in person using the ChatGPT app. These are official interfaces with web search on, but they are measurement surfaces rather than consumer sessions: no personalisation, no memory, no app-only features. Results can differ from what any individual user sees, and we do not claim the two are identical. We would rather put that on the pricing page than in the small print.
